For tyhis latest task I have looked at two different College Magazines front cover and contents page and use LIIAR to analyse them, below are my results.
Example 1
This is the cover for a Student Life magazine made by another Media student at East Riding College.
Language: The language used in this piece is simple and goes straight to the point, we know its a college magazine because of the title which is named "Student Life", and we notice other features on the front page indicating it has came from a college because it features alot of information on the college and activities.
Institution: The magazine does not have an organisation about it, just a college that does not have any TV shows, radio programs etc.
Ideoloy: The magazine features no sort of ideology that I have not noticed.
Audience: This magazine is obviously ment to be aimed at the students of the college magazine, and it does so very well with interesting smart lay out, simply text and a great picture for the magazines front cover.
Representation: The magazine features limited colours, apart from an eye ctaching photo there is mainly a black background that shows power and intelligence. It also uses white text to let it stand out and easyily read.
This is the contents page for the "Student Life" college magazine.
Language: The contents page expresses the language simply and gets straight to the point, it is relevant to the college magazine because it tells the reader where to find the page of a certain topic, and each topic is relevant to a college interest.
Institution: The magazine does not have an organisation about it, just a college that does not have any TV shows, radio programs etc.
Ideoloy: The magazine features no sort of ideology that I have not noticed.
Audience: This magazine is obviously ment to be aimed at the students of the college magazine, unlike the cover page this contents page uses alot more colours and pictures that stand out and appeal pretty well, they could of made a smarter lay out so there wouldn't be alot of blank spaces.
Representation: The contents page uses more colours in the background such as a black border, white background and a lime green contents box so the writing can be easily read.
Example 2
This is a College magazine example from Grimsby College.
Language: The language used in this magazine is very appealing and gives a urban look and it it gives people the idea it is aimed to the youth, the text if read is seen to be aimed at college.
This is the Contents page for the Grimsby College magzine.
Language: The contents page uses a ride range of colours, adds and pictures that makes it look professionally done. If read people could see was aimed for the young students that go to the college.
Institution: The magazine does not have an organisation about it, just a college that does not have any TV shows, radio programs etc.
Ideoloy: The magazine features no sort of ideology that I have not noticed.
Audience: Like the other examples I have presented it is simed towards a college student from the certain college they go to.
Representation: Like its cover it used alot of colours, pictures and adds that appeal to look like its a young urban magazine that is aimed to the young.
